Every powerful campaign begins with a story, and for Surrey Women’s Centre, the story is one of hope, resilience, and the transformative power of belief. On Giving Tuesday, the Centre unveiled their heartfelt campaign, “The Gift of Being Believed,” a clarion call to support survivors of gender-based violence. The Tugboat team was honoured to partner with SWC in the creation of this campaign, supplying our strategic and creative expertise to amplify their vital mission.

For survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault, being believed is often the first step toward healing. Surrey Women’s Centre recognized this fundamental truth and sought to build a campaign that would connect deeply with their community. “The Gift of Being Believed” not only raises awareness but also inspires action, encouraging donors to contribute to a cause that offers survivors the validation and support they so urgently need.

When approaching this project, we began by diving into the Centre’s core mission and values. The strategy was rooted in empathy-driven messaging that highlighted the emotional impact of belief on a survivor’s journey to healing.
The creative direction amplified the campaign’s message through visual storytelling. A warm, inviting aesthetic conveyed safety and hope, while bold accents drew attention to calls to action. The typography for the title “The Gift of Being Believed” prominently displayed in elegant, approachable fonts to ensure memorability and emotional resonance. Visual symbolism, including imagery of open hands, light, and connection, underscored the campaign’s themes of support and belief. All media elements—from social media assets to print materials and web content—were unified under the campaign’s branding, creating a seamless and cohesive experience.

The initial response to the campaign has been overwhelmingly positive. Supporters rallied around the message, sharing it widely on social media and contributing generously to Surrey Women’s Centre. Early metrics indicate increased engagement and a stronger connection with the Centre’s mission.
At Tugboat Group, we believe in the power of storytelling to drive change. Partnering with Surrey Women’s Centre allowed us to align our creative capabilities with a mission that truly matters. Together, we crafted a campaign that not only raises funds but also spreads a message of hope, belief, and empowerment. As the campaign continues, we’re reminded of the transformative impact of belief. It’s not just a gift—it’s a lifeline.
